The Maintenance Plan is designed to help you maintain a consistent body weight via a controlled calorie intake and energy output. This level requires ongoing monitoring for meal plan adjustments and education in order to ensure long term weight management.The Maintenance Plan helps with sustaining weight loss efforts in a manageable way and/ or if you want to maintain/control your current body weight. The Maintenance Plan is allowing you consuming 1 or 2 OPTIFAST products a day alongside more conventional, low-carb, Mediterranean-style meals. The Maintenance Plan is based on a calorie intake of between 1,400 - 1,700 a day.
The Maintenance Plan is designed to support with weight maintenance for up to 52 weeks.
If your new diet contains a very different amount of fibre compared to what you are used to, it is possible to experience some digestive changes such as a change in bowel habit, bloating, or flatulence. As you adjust to your new plan this should settle down. If you experience persistent, severe or worrying symptoms, we advise you to seek advice from your GP.
We recommend speaking with a healthcare professional if you are thinking about taking additional supplements. When following a partial meal replacement plan, making sure that your food-based meals are well balanced and contain plenty of fruit or vegetables can help you get the vitamins and minerals you need.

Low starch vegetables are vegetables with a low carbohydrate content.These are usually green vegetables and include: alfalfa sprouts, asparagus,beansprouts,bok choy,broccoli,brussel sprouts,cabbage, capsicum,carrots,cauliflower,celery,cucumber,eggplant, green beans,lettuce (all types),leeks,mushrooms,onions,radish,shallots,silver beet,snow peas,spinach, squash,tomatoes,watercress, and zucchini. Highs tarch vegetables are generally root vegetables and potatoes.
A serve of fruit should contain around 50-70 calories and 10-15g of carbohydrate.
A serve of fruit could be: 1 ½punnets of strawberries, 4 lychees, 2 apricots, 200g cooked rhubarb, 2 slices pineapple, 3-4 passion fruit, ½ cup of grapes, 1 small apple, 15 cherries, 1 medium orange, 1 medium peach, 1 small pear, 2 small plums, 3 prunes, 120g diced fruit in natural juice, ¾ cup blueberries, 1 kiwi fruit, ½ mango and 1-2 mandarins.
