My OPTIFAST Journey: From Body Conscious to Body Confident

We’re excited to introduce you to Audrey, who made the journey from body conscious to body confident after following an OPTIFAST diet plan.

Audrey started her journey around the same time that the COVID-19 pandemic hit, meaning she had to figure out how to make healthy lifestyle changes during an extremely challenging period.

Read on and hear Audrey’s story as she shares her experiences of following an OPTIFAST plan at a difficult time, how she overcame challenges and how she ultimately changed her mindset and relationship with food to go after her goals.

My Weight Loss Journey

Audrey: For girls’ trips or even trips with my husband to the beach, finding clothes to wear and swimsuits was always a challenge for me.

Over the past five years, before the OPTIFAST plan, I had tried several different weight loss solutions, but something always set me back and I’d say to myself ‘maybe next time’.

Changing My Relationship with Food

Audrey: I started the OPTIFAST plan about six weeks before the COVID-19 shutdown, but when it hit, that’s when I faced my hardest challenges.

My husband would cook and I was unsure at first if I could be in the same space as the food. After a while though, I was able to be in the kitchen while he was cooking and not even pay attention to the food, but instead just stay focused on my end goal.

This is when I knew my perspective had shifted; I was now mentally strong and fully committed to the OPTIFAST plan.

From Body Conscious to Body Confident

Audrey: Before the OPTIFAST plan, I’d only take pictures on my phone from the waist up, but now I’m loving myself so much more and take full-length pictures.

With this new life and new body, I’m more self-confident in myself – I’m even debating getting on social media.

Whenever my daughter wants to go outside, I’m always like ‘ok, let’s go!’ Before, I felt like it was a chore because I was so out of shape.

I’m proud to be at a healthy weight and planning for another child in the future.

Now, I’m ready to wear all kinds of cute clothes and I don’t have to worry so much about finding things.

My Advice for Others on the OPTIFAST Plan

Audrey: In the end, it’s all up to you. I had to put my mind to the OPTIFAST plan 100%. Once I was ready, there was no more turning back.

“You just have to be ready for yourself – that’s the only way you’re going to get through it.”
